Visit Bronte Beach Rock Pool
Updated: May 24, 2020

One of the best parts about living in Sydney is being surrounded by such a beautiful coastline. Seriously- there are so many beautiful beaches...and who doesn't love a good beach day! There's nothing better than taking the world's greatest nap in the sand while soaking up some vitamin D! One of my absolute favorite beaches is Bronte! It's a stunning beach in Sydney and home to a super photogenic rock pool.
What is a rock pool, you may ask....A rock pool is basically a pool built into the ocean! It is filled with salt water and a great place to swim laps- or if you're lazy like me- lounge by the pool while people watching. :) It's pretty incredible to see the waves from the ocean crash into the pool, especially during high tide! It does get crowded at times, so it would be ideal to arrive in the morning!
The best part? The Bronte beach rock pool is free to use!

How to get there:
Surprisingly, Bronte has SOME free parking. If you arrive early (like 7 AM) there is parking available on the street at the North end of the beach.
If you take public transportation, the best way to get to the beach is to take the train to Bondi Junction. Then, you can take bus 379 from Stand E to get to Bronte. The bus comes every 10 minutes and takes about 12 minutes to reach the beach. For all public transportation, you need an Opal Card. This can be purchased at any convenience store and topped up at any train station. On Sundays, public transportation is only $2.70 AUD all day long!
Ubers are also used in Sydney and are much more affordable than Taxis. In our experience, they have been very reliable.

The Rock Pool
The Bronte rock pool is located at the Southern part of the beach. There are changing rooms and showers located here as well.
The pools are open every day unless they are being cleaned or the weather is deemed too dangerous to swim in.

Bronte is definitely a local favorite. Although less popular than Bondi, it has a much more relaxed atmosphere. If you don't want to be in the sand, but still want those beach views, there is a park just behind the Bronte. Spend the day soaking in the sun with the waves crashing along the beach in the background.
If you're interested in walking to Bondi, the coastal walk from Coogee to Bondi goes through Bronte beach! It is about a 40 minute walk from Bronte to Bondi and there are some incredible views along the way. Be sure to check out this beach when you're in Sydney! It is a must see!
